Mississippi Valley State Top Performers

  • Sarah Moore went out and flexed her muscles yet again, setting season-bests of 19 points and 16 rebounds on top of a 60% (9-for-15) shooting night for her second straight double-double and third of 2021-22. She now has six contests with ten-plus points including three in-a-row.
  • Ronni Williams went for ten points, seven boards, a tied for game-high five dimes and a standalone game-best three steals. Points-wise, it is her fourth double-digit scoring outing of the campaign.
  • Krisen Hunt sunk five buckets and they all came via three-land, producing a season-high 15 points on 5-of-11 (45.5%) from downtown plus three rebounds. That matchup marked her fourth game of ten or more points and third in the past five while her five triples are the most since February of 2020.
  • Mikayla Etienne was another student-athlete in Green and White to cross ten points, registering 13 points and three assists, her third consecutive game with at least ten in the scoring department.
  • Zakiya Mahoney was the fifth and final player for Coach Walker-Johnson to score in the double-digits, putting 11 points into the scorebook in just 15 minutes. Mahoney is starting to get healthier after missing a few games as that was her 12th double-digit scoring affair but her first in nearly a month.

Notes

  • For the first time this year, Mississippi Valley State had the exact same number of rebounds as its opponent with both clubs bringing in 45 boards apiece.
  • MVSU won the analytical and depth portions of the box score, securing more second chance points (23-15), fast break points (14-11) and points off the bench (39-32).

Valley State will head home for its final weekend homestand of the regular season, starting with Texas Southern at 2 p.m. on Saturday afternoon.
