ITTA BENA, Miss. – The Mississippi Valley State University cross country program will be practically unrecognizable from its 2021 counterparts as all new faces will populate Coach Alonzo Banks’ rosters this fall.
Valley begins its journey on the first Saturday of September, bussing up to Memphis for the Twilight Classic hosted by Christian Brothers University at the Mike Rose Soccer Complex.
The running Devils will then make its longest trek of the regular season (four hours) up to Florence, Alabama, and McFarland Park for the North Alabama Invitational on September 10.
Same city but different location awaits the Green and White on September 17 as they head back to the Home of the Blues to participate in the Rhodes College Invitational at Shelby Farms.
MVSU will then take a two-week hiatus before making its first of two trips to familiar territory; Choctaw Trails in Clinton to run the Watson Collegiate Open hosted by Mississippi College on October 8.
The 2022 SWAC Cross Country Championships will be held there as well on Monday, October 17 with the women aiming for its second championship and first since 2017 while the men hope to collect its fifth trophy and possibly end a nine-year drought.
