BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Mississippi Valley State University women’s track & field program saw one of its brightest young stars recognized by the conference Wednesday morning as freshman Darrione Joseph was selected to the All-SWAC Indoor Track & Field Team.
Joseph, a Marrero, Louisiana native, has been phenomenal in her debut campaign with Coach Banks, winning the silver medal on the podium at the SWAC Indoor Championships with a personal-record time of 8.73 seconds.
The West Jefferson High School alum has been a star all season long for the Devilettes, snatching a SWAC Track Player of the Week award on January 28 after she won her event in the 60m hurdles (8.94) and was a part of the first place 4x200m relay quartet (1:48.10) at the KMS Invitational, her second ever collegiate meet.
Joseph and the track & field program will head to Rhodes College on March 18 and 19 to start the outdoor season at Crain Field for the Rhodes Invitational.
