BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Mississippi Valley State University women’s track & field program looks to have a superstar forming at a very young age as freshman Darrione Joseph has collected another accolade with her second SWAC Track Athlete of the Week award in 2022.
Joseph, a sprinter from Marrero, Louisiana, has been a revelation for Coach Alonzo Banks as she has now won both an indoor (January 28) and outdoor (April 14) weekly conference honor to go along with a silver medal at the Indoor SWAC Championships for her 60m hurdles time of 8.73 which earned her an All-SWAC Indoor selection.
She has now won four different events in just over three months of collegiate competition as she won the 60m hurdles and helped the 4x200m relay team place first at the KMS Invite on top of a pair of 100m hurdles victories during both the Rhodes Invite and last weekend’s Joe Walker Invitational.
Her performance in Oxford last weekend gave her the coveted weekly accolade as she beat out competitors from Southern, Memphis, Belmont, Lipscomb, and Bradley to win the 100m hurdles in a time of 14.03 seconds.
Joseph and the track & field program have the Easter holiday off before concluding the outdoor regular season at the ULM Warhawk Classic inside Brown Stadium on Saturday, April 23.
