Mississippi Valley State Overview
When MVSU misses a shot, more times than not they will grab their own board. Valley has the 21st-most offensive rebounds per game in the nation with 15.4 while they are also 17th among all teams for turnovers forced as well at 21.60.
Zakiya Mahoney has been as reliable as ever with her propensity to score buckets, leading the team with 14.3 points a night (sixth in SWAC) and a 40.7 field-goal percentage (fifth in SWAC).
Sarah Moore finally got that elusive double-double last week which has her rebounding average creeping towards double-figures at 9.1, third-highest in the conference.
Mikayla Etienne has solidified her standing as a three-point threat, slotting second in the SWAC with 2.00 triples per ballgame.
Ronni Williams has been an upper-echelon glue girl this year, producing the second-most assists (4.6) and steals (2.33) on average in the Southwestern Athletic Conference.
Scouting The Opponent: Southern Lady Jaguars
SUBR has looked like one of the frontrunners to represent the conference in the NCAA Tournament through the first three weekends of the year, beating both Texas schools at home and both Florida schools on the road, falling to travel partner Grambling before rebounding opposite UAPB on Saturday.
Similar to their male counterparts, the Marian Blue and Gold also make their money from stealing, posting a top-ten turnovers forced average (23.29), top-15 steals rate (11.9), and top-25 turnover margin (5.94) among all 348 NCAA teams.
Nakia Kincey is the top thief for Coach Funchess, swiping 37 steals to rank second league-wide.
Amani Mcwain is the only Lady Jag with a double-digit scoring average and more than five boards per contest as her 11.2 points and 5.3 rebounds are both tops among her team.
