
ITTA BENA, Miss. – The Mississippi Valley State University baseball program let a five-run lead slip through its grasp in game one and game two was suspended at the top of the seventh due to a lighting malfunction/darkness with the Hornets holding an 11-4 edge.

Mississippi Valley State Top Performers
- Dreylin Holmes added to his league leading home run tally with a silo shot three-run rocket to dead central to open the contest, giving him nine on the campaign while pushing his hitting streak into double-digits at ten and extending his on-base streak as well to 21. He was also intentionally walked once again to load the bases and the Devils made another team pay for the mistake with three extra runs coming home afterwards, including Holmes.
- Davon Mims collected his first career triple and his second such home run, also of the three-run variety, to keep him perched atop the team leaderboard for multi-hit outings with nine to go along with scoring twice and a season-best three RBIs.
- Maury Weaver contributed another two-hit day where he scored twice and smoked a double.
- Seven of the nine batters registered at least one base knock with Jan Tolentino returning from injury with a double plus a walk while Jose Salazar-Ortega crushed an RBI triple.
- Antonio Walker produced both in the box and on the mound, hitting a single on top of scoring and walking home a run as a hitter before pitching two innings in which he allowed just one earned run.
The suspended game two is scheduled to resume on Saturday at 1 p.m. prior to game three which would happen immediately afterwards. If games are postponed due to rain, there will be a to be determined makeup date later in the season.
