- Ortiz was a bright spot in an otherwise gloomy performance, contributing season-highs for both innings (5.0) and strikeouts (5) while allowing just two earned runs (three total).
- Darrien Chapman drove in the Devils’ lone RBI for the second straight day with an RBI walk, the team’s only base on balls, to go along with a single.
- Jose Salazar-Ortega was the player to score on the bases loaded free pass after reaching via single earlier in the frame to bump his on-base string to nine consecutive and nine-of-ten.
- Both Willie Johnson and Maury Weaver were hit-by-pitches as Weaver also kept pace with Salazar-Ortega by pushing his on-base streak to nine as well, on top of a base knock.
- Chris Soeder was the only extra-base hitter, squaring up a double.
- With an infield single in the top of the fifth, Jan Tolentino recorded a base hit for the seventh straight contest, a new career-long.
