
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Mississippi Valley State University softball program took a 1-0 lead in the second and tacked on an insurance run in the sixth but a three-run seventh by B-CU, all with no outs, sunk the Devilettes’ hopes of salvaging the series.

Mississippi Valley State Top Performers
- Cailyn Peterson connected on her second career home run and first of the season to get Valley on the board in the second, only the third round-tripper by the Green and White in 2022.
- Jaylon Davis went 2-for-4 with a stolen base, tying Brianna Alston for the most multi-hit outing this year at five while extending her on-base streak to a season-best nine consecutive contests.
- A’tajua Wren was marvelous through the first six frames, holding Bethune-Cookman scoreless with two strikeouts but picked up the loss as the Lady Wildcats came back to win in the seventh.
- Shelby Carson contributed a double and Sydney Wesley recorded an RBI fielder’s choice plus the club’s only walk.
- Alston and Keisha White were the other two student-athletes with base hits on the day.
Seniors Jewel Unga (Graduate Assistant), Kayla Sanchez, Daisy Page, Laeni Terrones, Jaylon Davis, Demi Slater, Cailyn Peterson, Brianna Alston, and Aleyah Munford will be honored next weekend during the Florida A&M series with the Saturday doubleheader being the official “Senior Day”.
