MONROE, La. – The Mississippi Valley State University softball program could not find its rhythm offensively, mustering just three runs in losses to Syracuse and ULM.

Mississippi Valley State Top Performers

• Daisy Page was the unquestioned star of game one versus the Orange, coming on in relief to pitch 4.2 innings while allowing just one earned run and one walk with five strikeouts in the circle. She also provided the Devilettes’ lone hit, an RBI single into left that brought home Shelby Carson and Breeauna Troup on a throwing error.

• Shelby Carson arguably had the best performance at the dish for new Head Coach Jimmy Buckner, drawing a walk in each contest as well as scoring a run, stealing a base and having one of those walks come with the bases juiced for an RBI the disciplined way.

• Sydney Wesley saw the ball well, coaxing a pair of walks, while Troup utilized her speed to swipe a bag and score.

• A’Tajua Wren walked and scored in game two plus Demi Slater, Jaylon Davis and Cailyn Peterson each got to stroll leisurely down to first base.

Notes

• Valley scored all three of its runs on the day in the fifth inning while shutting out the opposition in that frame as well.

• The Devilettes only walked three batters on Friday while coercing seven free passes of their own.

The Green and White clad ladies from Itta Bena will get back to work Saturday at 12:30 p.m. for a single game against the Evansville Purple Aces.
