
ITTA BENA, Miss. – The Mississippi Valley State University track & field program kickoff the 2022 season Saturday inside the Birmingham CrossPlex as it takes part in the Vulcan Invitational hosted by UAB.
The entirety of the indoor campaign will take place at the multi-faceted CrossPlex with the Delta Devils and Devilettes making return trips to the Magic City on January 23 (KMS Invitational), February 6 (South Alabama Invitational) and concluding with the SWAC Indoor Championships from on February 17-18.
Outdoor season will get underway nearly a month later as the Green and White make the trip north to Memphis, Tennessee to compete in the Rhodes College Invitational at Crain Field.
The following weekend will see Coach Banks’ units compete in SEC territory involving the Al Schmidt Bulldog Relays from inside the Mike Sanders Track Complex on the campus of Mississippi State from March 25-26.
April 2 will see the student-athletes from Itta Bena make their way down to Hattiesburg for the Southern Miss Invitational followed by the Joe Walker Invitational in Oxford on April 8 and 9 with the Ole Miss Rebels being the welcoming school.
The next stop for MVSU takes the teams on the short bus ride to the Capital City to participate in Belhaven’s Invitational on April 16 before wrapping up the regular season at Brown Stadium in Monroe, Louisiana for Louisiana-Monroe’s Warhawk Classic on the 23rd of April.
The grand finale comes in the form of the SWAC Outdoor Championships on the campus of Prairie View A&M University as prominent Delta Devil and Devilette athletes such as Chanelle Houston and Kiion Smith attempt to hurdle or shot put, respectively, their way into the NCAA Regionals from May 5 through 7.
