Mississippi Valley State Top Performers
- In game one, Shelby Carson scored both runs of contest including the game-winner and smacked a pair of triples into the right-center gap over three at-bats as she accounted for half of the team’s hits. She became the first Devilette with multiple triples in the same game since Lexany Terrones had two at Alcorn on April 22, 2017.
– Game two saw her notch only one hit but it was a crucial solo home run that knifed through a bitter and blustery wind to put Valley ahead 3-0 in the third.
- Brianna Alston was the hero in the opener at 1 p.m., collecting two hits over three plate appearances and beating out a soft liner that bounced in front of the shortstop by a half-step to clinch a 2-1 victory in game one.
- Laeni Terrones picked up an RBI in each game with her game two safety squeeze bringing Keisha White home for a second straight walk-off winner.
- A’tajua Wren took the ball in the first tilt and continued her breakout season, silencing the Lady Bulldogs with a complete game, one-run masterpiece while allowing a career-low three hits (5.0+ IP) and punching out three en route to her second career victory.
- Daisy Page stepped into the circle for the second tussle, going the distance as well in increasingly frigid conditions to surrender two earned runs over just four hits and a trio of strikeouts to notch win number two on the campaign and sixth during her tenure in The Delta.
- Demi Slater went 2-for-3 in the nightcap including an RBI bloop single to center that scored the Devilettes’ first run as pinch-runner Jaylon Davis scurried home.
The third and final game of the series is scheduled to take place at 1 p.m. on Saturday but Mother Nature could have other things to say, stay tuned with MVSU social media accounts below to get the latest information and schedule changes.
