ITTA BENA, Miss. – The Mississippi Valley State University women’s soccer program and Head Coach Frank Davies have signed four stud recruits; Adama Kargbo, Bailee Washington, Brooke Edyvane, and Ludesha Reynolds; to lace up for the Devilettes this fall in hopes of making a climb up the SWAC standings.
Adama Kargbo (Midfielder | 5-4 | Freshman | F.C. Kallon / Freetown Secondary School for Girls | Sierra Leone):
Kargbo, a native of Head Coach Frank Davies’ home country of Sierra Leone, was labeled by Choice Sports as “the Brazilian mata of Sierra Leone football with her dribbling skills and ability to go past people”. The attacking midfielder was named the best female player in high school during the 2019-20 calendar year, scoring 11 goals in a span of six matches at one point and noted that her biggest weakness is “losing matches”. She played internationally for the Sierra Leone Senior National Team and has ten international caps to her credit (international competitions recognized by FIFA).
Bailee Washington (Winger | 5-6 | Freshman | Helena HS | Birmingham, Alabama):
Washington, a starter on varsity for five seasons, is the school’s all-time leader in both assists (61) and game-winning goals for the Huskies, scoring 79 goals over 91 matches played for a total of 219 points. The five-time All-Metro selection had her best campaign as a senior, netting a jaw-dropping 31 goals, 18 assists, and 80 points in just 23 matches. The Birmingham native was apart of the club soccer program Hoover-Vestavia SC where she was mentored by former NCAA Final Four Coach Mike Getman, who led the Harvard Crimson there in 1987. When speaking of Washington, the legendary coach calls her “a very technical player who is not afraid to take on an opponent 1-v-1”.
Brooke Edyvane (Winger | 5-8 | Freshman | Mayville HS | Hampshire, Portsmouth, England):
Edyvane, a former member of the Barbados National Team, was limited to three caps due to COVID-19 and is the first person in her family to play collegiate soccer stateside. She played for the University of Portsmouth U-15 and U-16 teams throughout the United Kingdom during her senior year at Mayville.
Ludesha Reynolds (Goalkeeper | 5-7 | Freshman | Saint Joseph HS | Georgetown, Guyana):
Reynolds, a former member of the Guyana National Team, participated in four caps as part of the 20-member Guyana U-17 squad that competed in the 2020 Concacaf qualifiers and played for both Vurlon Mills Academy plus club team Georgetown FC.
